Camp 2022 Update
As we are approaching that time of year when we would normally begin preparations for Camp, we wanted to share some information with you.
The decision to have Camp is a complicated one. We must respect the recommendations from the Huron Perth Public Health, the Ontario Camps Association and the Archdiocese of Huron - Camp Huron and we are awaiting those updated guidelines. When all of that information is available then we can make a decision regarding the feasibility of Camp.
That being said, Camp Wendake Governance Committee is cautiously optimistic that we will be holding our 25th anniversary camp this year. While we wait for more details regarding what that will look like and what we need to prepare, we wanted to give you this update.
Please stay tuned for news as we go through this process. Please subscribe to our mailing list to make sure you don't miss the next update!
Campers - we hope to open registration by late May or early June.
Volunteers - if you didn't receive an email from the Director and would like to volunteer, either for the whole week (cabin leaders, kitchen, program leaders - craft, children's, etc.) or for a specific activity for a shorter time (hair cuts, massage, axe throwing, crafts, etc.) please email director@campwendake with your name, contact info and what you are interested in doing.
The Camp Wendake Governance Committee
Camp Wendake is a one-week residential camp program for children and adults living with HIV, their family and/or support.
Set on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron near Bayfield Ontario, Camp Wendake provides a welcoming place to come together with others who share a similar life experience. When we all come together - it is a powerful and life-changing week focused on fun, food, meeting new people and reuniting with old friends... all while enjoying a beautiful, rustic camp experience.
Camp Wendake is completely volunteer run - from our 40 camp volunteers, to our year-round Governance Committee who raise funds and work with community partners to ensure the sustainability of this incredible program.
For over 25 years, Camp Wendake has offered individuals living with HIV a stigma-free, safe and beautiful space to relax and experience the joy of community.
