On behalf of the Camp Wendake community I wish to extend greetings and gratitude to each other as people, whether you are a new visitor to our site or returning to connect with us. We are grateful for your interest, support and participation in the Camp Wendake experience.
My first experience with Camp Wendake was the first year of camp. I provided Trager bodywork sessions to campers and staff for a couple of days. With the exception of 2000 (started a new job in July that year), I have been a part of the volunteer staff at camp. Each year has been fun, led to my own personal growth, and allowed me to offer my contribution. As Program Director and now as Director, I know from my experience that one week at Camp Wendake can be amazing and continue to have a positive life affirming impact for campers and volunteer staff alike. The life lessons, the mutual respect, compassion, and the shared camp experience are expressed in the Camp Wendake community, our local communities, organizations and globally.
This years planning for Camp Wendake is well underway. We do have a waiting list for campers again this year as we just do not have the resources to offer the experience to everyone who wishes to participate. The Camp Wendake Governance Committee has been working on the strategic plan and the next steps that are needed to provide a Camp Wendake experience to every camper who wishes to attend. We appreciate the generosity and are excited by the continued and new support and donations, which make camp possible. Whether you join us in the AIDS Walk for Life, our special event this fall, or just want to contribute know that you are making a difference.
We keep the Camp Wendake mission and values, in all that we do not just camp, to enjoy and have fun, allow us to remember and celebrate our founders, volunteer staff, campers and donors. We look forward to seeing you at these events. Please visit other areas of our website for current information with regard to upcoming events, volunteer and donor opportunities.
The generous sharing of time, skills and other precious resources of the volunteer staff, campers and donors bless Camp Wendake. We remain mindful of the impact HIV and AIDS has personally and individually, in our communities and globally. I am personally honoured and amazed at what we are able to accomplish through our collective efforts. The benefit to our own community continues to expand and touch those affected by HIV/AIDS. Camp Wendake does challenge, enable and inspire us to be all that we can be, and to share that gift respectfully and compassionately wherever we may be.
Peace, Prosperity, Perspective
